Greetings fellow golfers,

The weather is seriously starting to get us all down now, the 3 & 4 Division medal had to be cancelled last Saturday and the Monday Medal, although started had to be called off, as the heavens opened once again and the course became unplayable!

Yet despite the ups and downs of the English weather, the Kings Norton Super Am Am, sandwiched between the two events was a great success last Sunday with 48 teams taking part with hardly a drop of rain in sight! (We like to think perhaps Pete Skidmore, who had always been associated with the event was sending a message of good will from on high!) Great tribute to the ground staff and the condition of the Course that it could accommodate that number of players considering the recent bad weather.

There were some fantastic scores posted with the winning team "The Carpet Baggers" from Coventry with 191, just beating the Kings Norton Team “Four Divots”, Neville, Adrian and Tom Jones (Toms Grandson) and Ian Girling on count back. In third place were the “Enscodgers” from Kings Norton, Narinda Jandu, Mark Fern and Ross Cartwright and Paul Garey now at Moseley on a score of 198, again on count back from “Happy Gilmores” from Kings Norton, James March, Mark Olds, Terry Troth and Jake Larden.

Many Thanks to our main sponsors “Bromsgrove Winding Services” who have again agreed to sponsor the event next year, and to Srixon and Cleveland Golf, Glenbrae Knitwear, Longbridge Tyres, Worldwide Fruit and Phoenix Drinks, without whom the event would not go ahead.

Also many thanks to our Captain Ken Barnwell and the competitions committee for organising the event and for all the others, (too many to mention!) who helped on the day to make the event such a success.

With the Open just a couple of weeks away, numbers are now on sale for our Open Sweep. The lucky member who draws the winning player wins a £100 pro shop voucher plus second and third prizes. Don’t miss out, call into the Pro Shop, numbers are £2 a go and you can have as many goes as you want!!

Calling all “C” team players
Our C Team Away Day is being held on Tuesday 24th July at Drayton Park. The sheet is now up in the clubhouse for any one wishing to attend. Or please see Alan Quaterman for more details.
